Winter headlight rules will take effect in Israel from 1 November 2020.

Israeli drivers will be required to keep their headlights on when driving on lights on all intercity roads 24/7..

Israeli winter is not so harsh, but still winter has come soon, and like every single year, a mandatory rules for drivers to turn on headlights during the all day will be applied

From Sunday, 1 November 2020 till 1 April 2021, the Ministry of Transportation confirmed, requiring the inclusion of dipped beams in the daytime for all vehicles type on intercity roads.

Trucks, buses and taxis must also turn on their headlights inside cities.

Two wheel vehicles must turn on their headlights during the year and on all types of the roads.

It should be noted that non-observance of traffic rules will be fined for two penalty points in the driver's license and 100 shekels.

It is important to note - according to many studies related to road safety, the use of headlights significantly reduces the likelihood of road accidents between vehicles and pedestrians. In winter, when visibility is often limited, for example in rain or fog, headlights improve the visibility of vehicles and emphasize their movement. In modern cars, which make up the vast majority of Israeli roads, the impact on a fuel consumption by turning on the headlights and lamp life is negligible, so you should not save on this and take risks when it comes to safety.

Most new cars have an automatic road headlighting mode - we recommend to set up an automatic mode without the need for manual control of the headlight.
